The Costco in Okinawa Membership

Costco memberships are worldwide, so if you arrive to the island with your US Costco membership, you can use it here! However, the Japan membership fees are significantly less than the states – about $30 for Gold Star.

If you are interested in signing up for a membership, head to Costco Japan’s website. The Executive Gold Star annual fee is 9,900 yen and the Gold Star annual fee is 4,840 yen. You can register online and pay at the warehouse. Keep in mind – as of the date of this article, Costco Japan only accepts Mastercard or yen at checkout. They also offer a Costco Global Credit Card (Mastercard). If you need cash, there is an ATM located in the tire center.

The Costco in Okinawa Products

The Costco in Okinawa offers a variety of Kirkland Signature brand items as well as exclusive Japanese products. You’ll find their coveted rotisserie chickens for 899 yen (less than half the cost of a chicken at the commissary) and KS toilet paper and paper towels. Additionally, they have all the usual product departments – clothing, outdoor, holiday, vitamins, toiletry products, alcohol, batteries, electronics, jewelry etc.

The fruit and eggs were the most exciting. Berries are almost impossible to come by (and if you do, they’re incredibly expensive). Blackberries and raspberries galore! The eggs were 20 for about $1.30.
