Calling all youth athletes! Basketball, Cheerleading and Flag Football are next up in the lineup of youth sports sign ups available to us here on Okinawa through MCCS Semper Fit Youth Sports and Kadena Youth Sports. Both Kadena and MCCS Youth Sports teams are open to all services and anyone in the military connected community. Baseball and softball registration will happen later this fall, as well, through Kadena Youth Sports.
MCCS Youth Sports and Kadena Youth Sports operate their sports schedules differently. Most sports are during different seasons between the two organizations which gives kids who love one sport multiple opportunities to play throughout the year.
MCCS Youth Sports Sign Ups
Starting with MCCS youth sports sign ups, basketball and cheerleading registration will begin August 1, 2024 and go through until August 31, 2024. Register online via Eventbrite or at any staffed MCCS Fitness Center during the registration period.
Practice Begins October 16, 2024 and is typically held twice a week for one hour, with a game once a week. Games are played on a weeknight or on Saturdays and vary for each team. The season runs roughly from the end of October 2024 until the end of January 2025. Cheerleaders are placed on teams as well and will cheer for the basketball teams in their age group.
The registration fee is $70 per child. Once open registration has ended, a waiting list will become available for those still wishing to participate. Placement is not guaranteed from the waitlist. Youth Sports will evaluate teams within the first two weeks of practice and if people don’t show up or kids drop out, spots become available to those on the waitlist. MCCS will contact you via the email you listed on the registration form and you will be able to pay after that.

Kadena Youth Sports Sign ups
For the fall/winter youth sports sign ups, Kadena Youth Sports offers flag football, cheerleading, baseball and softball. Registration takes place online through the CYP-BMS portal. You can find a contact form on the Youth Sports website to submit your information to start your CYP-BMS account.
Registration for flag football or cheer begins August 2, 2024. Kids ages 3-15 are eligible to register. The season runs from November to December.
Registration for baseball or softball begins in the fall and exact dates are still to be determined as of August 2024. Check on their website or the CYP-BMS portal for exact dates throughout the fall. Kids ages 3-17 are eligible to register for baseball or softball, with softball starting at age 9. The season runs from January through April.
Registration fee is $50 for the Start Smart level for kids ages 3-4. The fee is $70 for everyone else. Registration is open until all the spots are filled.
Kadena Youth Sports offers a Start Smart program for kids ages 3-4 years old for all of their sports.
