The age of the mall is not dead here in Okinawa—in fact, quite the opposite. Malls are thriving here and are nothing short of amazing. From all the food options you could imagine, high-end retailers, 100-yen shops, kid play areas, and aquariums, a place like AEON Rycom Mall Okinawa is where you’ll find locals and tourists alike enjoying their day.

AEON Rycom Mall Okinawa
AEON Rycom Mall Okinawa, better known as Rycom Mall to most on the island, is the largest shopping center in all of Okinawa. With over 200 shops ranging from a supermarket, pharmacy, electronic shops, clothing, household goods, 100-yen shops, and all the restaurants you could imagine, Rycom Mall attracts many tourists and locals alike.
Rycom Mall Okinawa Attractions
One of the biggest attractions at the mall is the Pokémon Center Okinawa. Each Pokémon Center throughout Japan features a collectible Pikachu donning a different outfit or accessory depending on the location. Pikachu dressed in traditional Okinawan clothing offers a great photo op inside the store and makes for a fun collectible.
The mall offers some smaller, but no less amazing, attractions for all ages. A large aquarium tank at the main entrance offers another great opportunity for photos. The tank is decorated according to the season and always has something interesting to see. There are tropical fish, a shark, stingrays, eels, and fish of all sizes to watch. There is a kids’ corner in the middle of the mall with a padded play mat that toddlers can safely run around on while parents sit and take a break. If you have older, elementary-aged kids, there is a play area in one of the buildings outside the main mall. There are lots of places to climb and run around—especially on a rainy day.
Something that can be enjoyed by anyone of any age is the arcade. There are actually two arcades in Rycom Mall. One is Mollyfantasy, located near Toys “R” Us and geared toward younger kids. With dress-up, child-friendly games, and small arcade attractions, it’s a great place where young children can enjoy an arcade without getting lost in the crowd. The larger arcade is Rakuichi Rakuza, located on the fourth floor near H&M. This arcade offers racing games, photo booths, claw games, coin pushers, and a small toddler area.
Other attractions that don’t involve shopping include the Cinema Rycom movie theater, Oki Escape escape room adventure, and the DreamCapsule gashapon corner.
When it comes to shopping, you’ll find anything you need at Rycom Mall. With major retailers like Apple, GU, Nitori, Uniqlo, H&M, Gap, and Toys “R” Us (yes, it still exists here!) among many other smaller stores across four floors, you could easily spend an entire day shopping and still not see everything.
The food court at Rycom is also not your average mall food court. You can try all kinds of local cuisine, along with Indian curry, Hawaiian, Thai, McDonald’s, donuts, and ice cream. You’ll also find Okinawa’s favorite, Blue Seal, here.

Since it is owned by AEON, there is an AEON Style and supermarket inside. They offer a huge selection of local foods, alcohol, and souvenirs. It’s a great place to do your weekly grocery shopping or just browse their locally sourced products.
Along with great shopping and ambiance, Rycom Mall regularly hosts entertainment. In the main entrance area, near the aquarium tank, performances and festivals happen often. On any given weekend, you can find groups performing or vendors selling handmade items. It’s always a fun way to get a glimpse into the local culture and what the community values.
Overall, Rycom is a place you’ll find yourself visiting regularly. Whether you need something to do on a rainy day, want to do your weekly grocery shopping, or are looking for the newest fashions, you are sure to find what you need at Okinawa’s largest shopping center, AEON Mall Okinawa Rycom.
